JoAnn Holmes - HOLMES@LAW
I'm an IP & Digital Assets geek,
amateur herb gardener, passionate advocate for girls in the developing world, and proud Stanford mom.

A graduate of Stanford University and Emory School of Law, JoAnn Holmes ("Jo") is adept in distilling complex information into pragmatic, result-driven solutions.  Jo has practiced law for over 20 years, and her career began in the Technology & Intellectual Property ("IP") practice group of a prominent international law firm. There, she successfully represented a gamut of diverse clients, from startups to multi-billion dollar companies like Chick-fil-A, Microsoft and WalMart.

Moving in-house, Jo served on business management and legal teams in senior leadership roles for both public and private companies.  For more than a decade, she was the “go-to” lawyer for her business units with presence in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and the Asian corridor.

Jo has managed intangible assets exceeding $2 billion in annual revenue, and currently oversees sophisticated IP portfolios in 125+ countries.  She has successfully negotiated licenses with international media and entertainment companies such as Disney, the NFL, Dream Works and Sony.  And, Jo has led IP diligence for corporate mergers and multi-million dollar target acquisitions. She is well accomplished in both negotiating sophisticated domestic and international commercial contracts, as well as cost effectively resolving high dollar disputes.

Jo now advises clients on IP monetization through emerging blockchain tech, including NFTs (non-fungible tokens), metaverse assets, and DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations).  She serves as Senior Legal Advisor to the Atlanta Blockchain Center and DAO.  And, she consults with brands and business leaders to design Web3 revenue generation strategies that maintain lasting customer and community engagement.

Innovations of the World features Jo among the Web3 Global Top 100 Women of the Future™.   She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law, lectured for Cornell and Penn State law schools, various bar associations, and presented to Fortune 50 corporate teams in customized seminars.  Her writing includes credits for the American Bar Association, as well as various business and legal publications.
